The February issue of Home Farmer, the most versatile magazine in the gardening sector, is jam-packed with great features to get you off to a flying start in 2015. Our menu includes our regular seasonal ‘on the plot’ feature with allotment guru John Harrison together with articles on preparing sustainable no-dig beds, selecting bird-friendly bushes for the garden, growing (and cooking) raspberries, a nurseryman’s tips for prepping and fine-tuning a plot, and sowing a wild flower meadow. In addition we also cover growing mushrooms and include a list of Potato Days where you can buy up to 100 different varieties, together with a feature on the East Anglian Potato Day, past and present – one of the larger events of its kind. But of course the fun doesn’t end there with Home Farmer – our recipes include simple home-made wines, making marmalade, Midlands fare from Birmingham and Coventry, a feature on gluten-free products and three recipes from Dale Pinnock, the ‘Medicinal Chef’, and we have also managed to cram in features on livestock, foraging, renewable energy for the home and crafting attractive bowls from your old magazines – a great way for any hi-tech hoarder to hold on to all those antiquated magazines in the 21st century!
