Home Farmer Magazine November 2017 Edizione posteriore

English
2 Recensioni   •  English   •   Family & Home (Gardening)
The November issue of Home Farmer is packed with a wide range of fascinating features, from our usual extensive and informative articles on gardening, livestock and recipes, to many wider but equally relevant issues. We look at keeping plants warm in winter, get involved with the dig or no-dig debate, learn about forager’s delight, the Parasol mushroom, check out the ‘learning curve’ for 21st century smallholders, visit the Tynes’ farm in North Wales via Dot’s extensive diary, and discover how to turn scraps of beeswax into convenient and user-friendly blocks. Complementing our usual fare this month we also have an inspiring focus on Hazel Griffiths’ ‘Fruit Magpie’ venture, an award-winning preserves business which grew directly from the planting of a single quince tree, an explanation of community energy schemes and the benefits they bring by Gordon Cowtan, a director of Fintry Development Trust in Scotland, and an interview with wheat guru, John Letts, who is endeavouring to bring back many traditional varieties ideally suited to today’s popular artisan baking styles – and he’s apparently succeeding in his campaign judging by the growing support he’s getting from the quality end of the baking sector! We also have a light-hearted feature on ‘the human condition’, looking at how we might perhaps compare if studied according to the poultry concepts of free-range and battery, complete with a short quiz for any readers brave enough to check out to which of the two categories they might belong. Hop on board and join us by downloading the November issue of Home Farmer – the most fun way of staying informed for today’s new generation of rural and urban self-supporters.
