In this 84-page issue of ‘Aviation News incorporating Classic Aircraft’ magazine we pay tribute the VC10 which is due to retire from the RAF in September this year. An article looks back over its RAF service and another examines the type’s career serving with airlines. We also travel back to the Cold War with the first in a two-part feature on United States Air Force Europe’s aggressor squadron that was based in the UK, first at Alconbury and then Bentwaters. First-hand accounts from pilots from the unit give fascinating insights into this elite fighter unit. We have an update on another Cold War warrior regarding the aim to keep Vulcan XH558 flying until the end of 2015.

There is an insight into the innovative US carrier JetBlue Airways and a profile of the Short Sunderland flying boat. The firefighting operations and capabilities of the unusual looking S-64F Aircranes of Italy’s State Forestry Corps are described in an article. There is the second part of an enthusiasts’ trip around North America during which some rare and unusual aircraft were seen, plus we have a report on the Paris Air Show and the farewell event at Wittmundhafen for the retirement from front-line service with the German Air Force of the F-4F. The hotel we feature in this month’s ‘Room with a View’ is one with a roof terrace that is located on the approach to one of the runways at Bangkok’s main international airport. Not forgetting our regular sections among which is the worldwide airshow calendar of events as well as the latest civil, military and heritage aircraft news, plus much more. This month’s issue is not to be missed.

Aviation News

I have been looking for a magazine covering all aspects of worldwide aviation for some time and I think I have found it. I read Air International {and it's various predecessors} for many many years but it had become far to technical for a mere enthusiast. I find Aviation to be far more readable and I didn't see A.I. in the list of available publications anyway Überprüft 07 Januar 2026
