Gleaning information about future Porsche models from official sources ahead of time is often a game of cat-and-mouse. However, at the recent Detroit Auto Show our man in the field, Andrew Frankel, managed to grab confirmation on the future of 911 drivetrains.

Wolfgang Hatz is head of Porsche Research and Development, and is also the man in charge of the Volkswagen Audi Group’s Engine and Transmission Development. The bottom line is he should know what he’s talking about when it comes to Porsche engines. Hatz revealed to Andrew that, as we already suspected, all future 911s (except the forthcoming GT3 RS) will be turbocharged.
