BRITS ON TOP AT THE TOUR
Team Sky Principal Sir Dave Brailsford has said Britain’s Adam Yates should now focus on the Tour’s general classification rather than go for stage wins. Going into the first rest day Yates (Orica-BikeExchange) sat in second place sixteen seconds behind Chris Froome, led the young rider competition and had been the revelation of the race. Despite going to the Tour saying he was going for stage wins he was looking more and more like a GC contender. The twenty year-old led the favourites over the line in Andorra-Arcalis at the end of the queen stage through the Pyrenees as the likes of Fabio Aru, Alejandro Valverde and Tejay Van Garderen all lost time.
