A warm welcome to Issue 13 of Air-Style Magazine.
It’s spring at last! My favourite time of the year in the UK. The show season, and hopefully the weather, are ahead of us – and up and down the country, people’s pride and joys are emerging from under covers and out of garages, ready to hit the road again. Talking of favourite things, we have got an amazing issue lined up for you.
Our cover vehicle is Tom Hilton’s stunning Buggy. Read how Tom turned his vision into reality.
Read about how Nick Bruynooghe from Belguim struck gold with his ’58 bronze Beetle on and find out why Andy Henderson’s ’77 Jurgens Autovilla is known as ‘The Sausage Bus’.
Air-Style’s resident Bus expert David Eccles delves into a piece of Cold War history with a fascinating look at disaster and catastrophe Buses. Also on an historical theme, Richard Copping takes us back to 1962 and the brochures that accompanied the Karmann Ghia and Razor Edge, in his regular ‘Brochure Line’. If you like what you see here, check out Darren Toplass’ ’64 Razor Edge Ghia.
If you’re an admirer of the German look, we have a thing of beauty for you as Klass Debacker gives us a tour of his ’69 Beetle.
We have some awesome Buses for you too – Nico Brück’s ’52 Barndoor really has a fantastic story. Parked up for around 30 years, read about how Nico brought this classic back to life. And we have a very rare beast – a ’63 Campahome Split Screen – still very original; and owned by Mick Johnstone from Lancashire.
Air-Style’s ‘Great Baja Build’ continues, and you can see where we’re at. With a major deadline on the horizon, you’ll see the progress we’ve made with this amazing project.
We have another great round-up of life in the low lane from UTA, including a special collection of UK vehicles; we have the latest news from the Wolfsburg Bus Crew and in ‘On the Ground’ this issue, we hear more about the Kodoxhead Inc club from Malaysia.
All this and much more!
Enjoy the issue.

Like many great origin stories - the idea of Air-Style VW Magazine was conceived in a pub. Four like-minded friends knew that they weren't alone in their love for all things Volkswagen. They felt there was a gap in the market for the many that shared their passion, and believed that they could provide a service that speaks to the people in love with the cars, vans, music and lifestyle that makes the VW fandom so unique. Throughout the various pub meetings that followed, the premise grew from a concept into a fully functioning business plan. Their mission was simple… to provide VW enthusiasts with a dedicated publication in which they can learn more about their beloved brand, and share their experiences with other VW devotees.

Fast forward to today, and Air-Style VW Magazine has surpassed expectations. Proud to pair their own passion with fellow VW enthusiasts - Air-Style VW’s success has stemmed from the creators being genuine fans of the brand. Each issue is packed with a combination of car based content and real life stories that educate, inform, and inspire.
