TARZAN'S CALL TO ARMS: HESELTINE RALLIES THE REMAINERS
Liam Fox called this week for an end to the “obsessive” criticism of Brexit. Opponents of the UK’s departure from the EU needed to “lift their horizons”, said the International Trade Secretary; Brexit was “not a time bomb to be defused, but a great opportunity to be embraced”. His words came after a controversial intervention last week by Lord Heseltine, who suggested a Jeremy Corbyn-led government might be a less damaging option than Brexit, because Labour would only cause “short-term” damage, whereas Brexit would be a “long-term disaster”. There were people in the Conservatives, said Heseltine, who were “seriously wondering which way to vote”. His comments prompted some Tories to call for him to lose the party whip.
