The Searcher | November 2024
What’s new in this issue?
On our cover is the fabulous gold guinea hoard unearthed at Detectival a few weeks ago. Daniel Spencer was one of only a few allowed to the findspot and spoke to the finder Brian Murphy, soon after discovering it. Other highlights in this issue are a rare Charles I angel touchpiece unearthed by Greg Livermore. It’s his third significant gold find in six months! Team Searcher’s Luke Harris reports on a Roman coin hoard he helped recover. The scattered hoard of nummi are in remarkable condition. The 2023 nominations are in for our Nations’ Greatest Finds celebration which will be judged soon and Emma Youell shares the day she helped detect Sutton Hoo with Time Team. Elsewhere in this issue Gordon Heritage tests the new Coiltek Mythtek coil for the Manticore and Neil Ham and Scott Hibbard ‘bust the myths surrounding the enigmatic Threshold setting’. There’s much more to inform and inspire you between the covers of this edition.
