Welcome to your August/September issue, which we’re
delighted to call your Floral Issue. This edition celebrates
the beauty, colour and diversity of flowers through embroidery, exploring the endless inspiration they provide through their shapes, textures and tones. From delicate botanical details to bold and expressive designs, this issue brings together a variety of projects that showcase the many ways flowers can be interpreted through stitch.

Joyce Wong’s stunning stumpwork echinacea captures the striking form of this flower with incredible detail and dimension, while Winnie Wen’s intricate thread painted rose celebrates the elegance and grace of one of nature’s most beloved blooms. We also had the pleasure of chatting with Winnie about her creative process, inspirations and the techniques behind her remarkable work.

Further exploring our floral theme, Becky Dawes’ dazzling beaded daisy brooch adds a touch of summer sparkle, while Georgie Emery explores the charm of countryside wildflowers
through her carefully curated collection.

Elsewhere, Katherine Savage’s delicate three-dimensional cherry blossom demonstrates the artistry of sculptural embroidery, while Hellen Edwards pays tribute to the iconic Frida Kahlo with a bold and colourful free-motion piece inspired by her unmistakable style and love of florals. Our zodiac series also continues with Katy Horwood’s elegant Virgo piece, bringing the personality and symbolism of the sign to life.
