Home Farmer Magazine  |  February 2017
February is a month of getting ready and preparing for the forthcoming season on the plot, and this month's magazine definitely does not shirk its responsibilities, with features on edible hedges, beetroot and chard, growing orchards in even the smallest of spaces, and cultivating lemons in a temperate climate. As for livestock, we cover feeding sheep, preparing your hives for the forthcoming active season, taking your livestock to the abattoir, and we have a poultry Q & A based on recent concerns put to Terry Beebe on matters of health and behaviour. On a broader front we also consider the possibilities of natural capital as a way of funding our environmentally-conscious farmers, we look in depth at Turkey Tail fungus, and check out the regulations affecting log cabins sited on your land. And that's in addition to all our regulars such as Dot Tyne's smallholder's diary, Gaby Bartai's produce focus, and Sue Stickland on getting the most from all your under cover produce. We hope you enjoy and benefit from all our February features as the days slowly begin to lengthen and spring is just around the corner.
