With spring in full swing we're both celebrating the freshness of the season and looking forward to the gardening year ahead with the sense of optimism and intent that spring always inspires. Head gardener Benjamin Pope starts a new practical series that offers advice on seasonal jobs for the kitchen, flower and ornamental gardens beginning with what to sow and plant out this month. Tom Coward offers his recommendations for the best plants and trees for April and plantsperson Jimi Blake shares his obsession for the elegant, arching woodlanders that make up the Polygonatum genus.
