Happy birthday to us! This is our 20th year of SurfGirl. We launched our mag in 2002 and are delighted to still be here, bringing you smiles and stoke, in 2022.
Things are very different from those pre-digital days when we first started the magazine. Looking back it’s great to see how far women’s surfing has progressed. Having seen so many changes over the years, we take a look back at some of these key events, starting on page 16.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learnt over the years is that although life isn’t always perfect, we can always strive to make things better. With this in mind, in this issue ‘Ocean Love’ is a collection of stories from women who reflect on their experiences and how surfing has helped them navigate life’s choppy waters. While in ‘Making the Move’ we speak to four creative souls who changed their dynamic for a more desirable life. Surfing and the ocean has brought so many so much joy, and we celebrate this in our 20th year issue.
From all the SurfGirl team, thank you for supporting our little surf community over the years, you’re all stars and we appreciate each and every one of you.
