Essential Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Magazine April 2013 Zurück Ausgabe

When it comes to creating a successful room scheme, careful attention to detail can make all the difference. And one huge factor which is so often overlooked is flooring. Imagine the difference in a large kitchen living space between a white reflective porcelain tile and a deep matt black concrete finish. The floor can be just as important as your choice of cabinet or colour scheme. And it will also represent a significant proportion of your overall budget. This month, we have dedicated 13 pages to a comprehensive flooring guide, from luxury natural ceramics, quarried from exotic parts of the world, to ultra contemporary poured resin floors favoured by restaurants and cafes for the ultimate in cool. Essential Flooring (p69) really is an essential read. Wet rooms are a place where practicalities dictate the choice of flooring. Seamless flooring, hidden drains and luxury fittings make this a space where form truly meets function, so if it is bathrooms that you’re looking at this month, turn to p94. Our readers' homes this issue offer a diverse array of ideas. From the super sleek contemporary feel of Liz and Steve Watt’s Berkshire home (p24) with its remarkable Titanium Satinato granite fitted dining table, to Lisa Ward’s desire to create a light and friendly farmhouse style kitchen (p12). For architectural inspiration, a family kitchen in Notting Hill certainly has the wow factor with a stunning tear shaped glass skylight, Curves & Creativity (p32). But, perhaps the kitchen I envy most is A Modern Classic (p52), with the sunken, glass-topped wine cellar in Anya and Patrick’s impressive north London home. Do look out for next month’s issue, when we be revealing a new look. It will be packed full of more inspirational real kitchen, bathroom and bedroom case studies and all sorts of new features – so it’s not to be missed.
Enjoy the issue.
