Does the month of June and especially the 16th actually mean anything to anglers these days? I suppose it depends on your age and whether you actually remember the build-up, the excitement and the sheer effort involved in the Glorious 16th. River anglers still experience it, so I suppose they still feel it, but it depends if they were fishing their local waters or out in France the week before, surely then it’s not the same? The buzz built up during the three months of no fishing. Preparing tackle, bait and even swims for the kick off. Oh well! I don’t suppose it really matters. But for those who still seek the thrill of a new season, this one’s for you.
